Customer

A global animal health leader that rigorously innovates to improve the health of animals, builds pet health solutions, treats, and prevents disease in more than 90+ countries.

Business Challenge

The customer identified the need for a centralized warehouse for its regulatory data to enable teams to efficiently address queries without manually consolidating extracts from multiple systems. Data requests were frequently initiated by leadership, requiring extensive coordination to obtain accurate information.

The primary objective was to establish a single source of truth within the regulatory data domain and implement a streamlined process for downstream applications to access this data in accordance with enterprise governance standards.

What was getting in the way

  • No unified overview of dosage, sales, adverse events, or product registrations.
  • Gaps in product and entity mapping between systems like Veeva and SAP.

They needed a single, trusted view of this data—without hand-built extracts, repeated reconciliations, or ongoing back-and-forth across teams.

WinWire Solution

Building the Regulatory Data Platform on Azure Databricks and Azure Synapse

WinWire collaborated with the customer to architect the platform through two integrated tracks

Establishment of the warehouse and data consumption foundation:

  • The regulatory data warehouse was designed to serve as the authoritative system of record for the domain.
  • Consumption patterns were defined to ensure that downstream applications could consistently access curated data.
  • All components were developed to align with enterprise data governance standards and best practices.

Connect key source systems and address product mapping

  • Integrated data from SAP, Veeva, and pharmacovigilance platforms. Proposed a reusable tool for cross-system product mapping, now its own project.

Approach

  • Assess — Confirm the priority questions, domains, and source systems.
  • Design — Set the warehouse model, consumption patterns, and governance rules.
  • Build — Create pipelines and curated datasets on the Azure stack.
  • Validate — Reconcile outputs across systems and confirm product/entity mapping.
  • Run — Automate report delivery and publish datasets for downstream apps.

Business Value

  • Enhanced support for sales, product registration, and adverse event tracking
  • Automated regulatory reporting minimizes manual processes
  • A governed, reusable base enables future predictive analysis for sales and consumption.
